Many of us have heard of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), but we might not realize just how much they contribute to our nation's welfare, especially during times of crisis.
The civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force has always been associated with search and rescue operations, but played in other roles during the recent crisis of September 11, 2001.
CAP's California Wing provided HF radio support throughout California. The Wing also assisted law enforcement with security at a Southern California airport for the first couple of days after the attacks and airlifted FEMA and U.S. Department of Justice officials for their respective work involved with the crisis.
In addition to its flight and security work, the CAP Headquarters has now established the EAGLE fund (Extending A Gift of Love and Empathy) program for ongoing disaster relief efforts.
Visit the official web site for more information on how you can help.
