CAP SPONSORS NASCAR BUSCH SERIES #46
On January 15, 2002 the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) announced a multi-year agreement as the primary sponsor of the NASCAR Busch Series No. 46 Lewis Motorsports Chevrolet.
As primary sponsor, the CAP hopes to increase awareness of their three primary missions: Cadet Programs, Aerospace Education, and Emergency Services.
 The CAP NASCAR, which will be driven by Ashton Lewis Jr., will make its debut run on February 16 at the Daytona International Speedway.
The Lewis Motorsports team is a family owned and managed team. Ashton's brother, Charlie Lewis is the crew chief.
Lewis Motorsports began in September of 1999 as a venture between father, Ashton Lewis Sr., and his two sons. Lewis Motorsports made their debut in 2000 by running a limited NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division Schedule.
In 2001, Lewis Motorsports ran a full NASCAR Busch Series schedule in an effort to gain valuable seat time for driver Ashton Lewis Jr. and a young and eager crew, posting two top-five finishes (Kentucky and Lowe's), three top-10s, seven top 15s, 14 top-20s and eight top-10 qualifying efforts.
The first five races for 2002 are:
- Feb. 16 - EAS/GNC Live Well 300 at Daytona International Speedway (debut race)
- Feb. 23 - RBC Insurance 200 at North Carolina Speedway
- Mar. 2 - Sam's Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
- Mar. 16 - DarlingtonRaceway.com 200 at Darlington Raceway
- Mar. 23 - Channellock 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway
